How to cook Arroz a la Cubana

1

Cook the beef

Heat 1 tablespoon oil. Sauté onion and garlic, add beef, and cook until browned.

2

Add vegetables

Add tomatoes, potato, carrot, soy sauce, and ½ cup water. Simmer until tender.

3

Finish the picadillo

Stir in peas and raisins. Cook until the mixture is moist but not watery; season to taste.

4

Fry the bananas

Heat a little oil and fry the saba halves until golden and caramelized on both sides.

5

Fry the eggs

Fry four eggs sunny-side up, keeping the yolks intact.

6

Plate and serve

Place the beef mixture, one fried egg, and two fried banana halves on each turquoise plate.

Maria’s tip: Prepare all ingredients before cooking so the dish comes together smoothly and the vegetables keep their shape.
Food safety: Cook meat thoroughly, avoid cross-contamination, and refrigerate leftovers promptly.
